This series was created during my Contemporary Issues class at Black Hills State University. Using found items, encaustic, and photographs depicted through digital prints, alternative process, and transfer gel I have made a series of assemblages that addresses personal questions while using all of the artistic tools I've gathered over three years.
I grew up as an only child, looking for moments I could compare to a coming-of-age story. I kept myself busy building memories and longed for a feeling of connection and acceptance. This project has become a series of conversations with my younger self. Focusing on memory as an action, I aim to confront uncomfortable aspects of life. A battle between self-growth and discovery while accepting that there are things one can never change.
